A coincidence halfway around the world inspired Daniel Wellington. On this trip, our founder, Filip Tysander, met a charming English gentleman with an impeccable, understated style. This man is particularly fond of wearing his vintage watches on weathered old NATO straps. His name? Daniel Wellington.

Inspired by his new friend's timeless style, Filip decided to create his own line of watches. Simple yet refined, the classic design with interchangeable straps has become a staple with a truly universal appeal. Years later, this design is still part of what sets Daniel Wellington apart from the rest.

The design

Daniel Wellington likes to wear his watches on old NATO straps. We liked the originality of this combination so much that we wanted to incorporate it into our own watch collection. We had to create a watch that was modern but really classic. We wanted a clean, minimalist design that would complement the various patterns and colors of the iconic NATO bracelet.

After returning from his trip, Philippe sat down and started looking at different samples and colorways. It was important that he liked the watch, otherwise he could never sell it and be proud of it. Slowly but surely, a beautiful watch emerged. It was thin, elegant and round. A testament to the simplicity of Scandinavian design, with the precision and accuracy of a Japanese movement watch.
